CLaSH

The Association for Children with Language, Speech and Hearing Impairments of Namibia (CLaSH) was based in Windhoek, Namibia's capital city. CLaSH was formed in 1989 as a self help group for parents and became a well-respected service provider, registered as charitable organisation with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (WO 70).

CLaSH worked to ensure that the children it represented had access to the support they needed.
The mission was:

  • to facilitate development towards equal opportunities for children with language, speech and hearing impairments
  • to ensure equal access to education, training and all other facilities
  • to promote services to meet these children's special needs as early as possible

CLaSH believed in an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to service provision and sought close cooperation with Government ministries, non-governmental organisations and private businesses.
